Ingredients:
Chocolate cake:
- 120 g unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped
- 25 g unsweetened cocoa powder (regular unsweetened or Dutch processed)
- 240 ml hot coffee (or boiling water)
- 295 g all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 225 g unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 200 g granulated white sugar
- 205 g firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 240 ml milk, at room temperature
Frosting:
- 180 g semi sweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 225 g butter, at room temperature
- 230 g confectioners (powdered or icing) sugar, sifted
- 1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
