Video recipe: Cannellini beans vegan sausages

Opt for homemade vegan- and vegetarian-friendly sausages with this homemade beans sausage recipe from Bhavna's kitchen. These are not just for vegans and vegetarians, they can make a nice alternative for a meat-free dinner once in a while. These sausages are easy to make and taste great; follow the video recipe for instructions. Bhavna suggests using cannellini beans, however pinto beans or kidney beans also work well. 


  • 5 ml (1 tsp) oil + more for shallow frying
  • 75 g onion, chopped
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • 225 g cannellini beans, cooked and drained (pinto beans or kidney beans can be used)
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) flax seed meal if available
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) parsley or your favorite herb
  • Chilli sauce to taste
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) yellow mustard

For the Batter:

  • 30-45 ml (2-3 tbsp) corn starch + water as needed
  • Salt to taste

For the Breading:

  • 50-75 g (1/2 cup) bread crumbs of your choice
