Video recipe: Bourbon chicken

If you've ever been to the United States, this is one of those "musts" you would find in a mall, akin to Cinnabon. But you don't need to travel so far to taste it, just make it yourself by following the instructions of Chef Kendra Nguyen in her video recipe for Bourbon chicken.

Serves: 4


  • 1.1 kg boneless, skinless, chicken thighs, diced into 4 cm pieces
  • 20 ml vegetable oil


  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ¾ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 120 ml water
  • 60 g light brown sugar
  • 80 ml soy sauce
  • 60 ml apple juice
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp bourbon
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp ginger, chopped
