Recipe: Mediterranean meatballs

Mediterranean meatballs

These meatballs are perfect for serving with drinks or a glass of wine in the summer, hot or cold, with toothpicks and dips to accompany.


For the meatballs:

  • 400g minced pork & beef
  • 6 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup chopped tomato 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander 
  • 1 tbs cumin powder
  • salt and pepper

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup chopped tomato 
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp crushed dried chilli
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp chives
  • 2 tbs olive oil



For the meatballs: 

  1. Beat egg in a bowl and mix all ingredients.
  2. Stir well and form rather small meatballs.
  3. Place in a metal baking tray and sprinkle with oil.
  4. Bake at 200C for 10-15 minutes.


For the sauce:

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry spring onion, garlic and chilli.
  2. After 5 minutes add other ingredients and lightly fry for 10-15 minutes.

Serve: meatballs hot on a plate or dish, accompanied by sauce in a bowl.
