Turned vegetarian but sometimes secretly crave for bacon? Here's a recipe that will help wean those cravings! You can make slices of smoked firm tofu resemble crisp, smoky bacon strips; the secret is the marinade. Serve as you would bacon with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • 210 g smoked firm tofu, frozen and thawed
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 dash liquid smoke flavoring (optional)
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
