Cheese & Wine Festival

Arkadia Commercial Centre will be hosting a Cheese & Wine Festival from Thursday 1st to Saturday 3rd May 2014 between 11am and 7pm. This event is possible thanks to the collaboration of Italian cheese brand Zappala and Chilean wine brand Undurraga. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Puttinu Cares by purchasing a commemorative wine glass for €2.

Arkadia Foodstore will be introducing Zappala cheeses, one of the leading companies in cheese production. Zappala’s started off as a small Sicilian company but has stuck to Sicilian tradition and delivers a product that is rich in flavour, high in quality and produced with special attention to safety standards.

During the Cheese & Wine Festival visitors will be able to taste a selection of Zappala cheeses such as the Ricotta limone, Trecce affumicato (with honey), Barone Nero, Sikanino and Foglia Mozzarella balls.  Mrs Zappala, one of the owners, will also be attending the special occasion.

Complementing the cheese tasting will be Vina Undurraga originating from Chile. Founded in 1885, Undurraga has two winemaking cellars in Chile, with a total capacity of 23,000,000 litres. Both have modern facilities where the fermentation, processing, ageing and bottling processes for Undurraga’s still and sparkling wines take place. At the festival visitors will have the chance to taste an exquisite selection of the wines namely the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon Rose, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Apart from these, Gavi di Gavi from Dezzani in Piemonte and Rose’ d’Anjou will also be available for tasting.

To coincide with the Cheese & Wine festival, Arkadia Foodstore will be giving out a FREE Italian Gourmet Hamper to all customers who make a purchase of €50 or more. The hamper consists of €15 worth of products such as a bottle of Gavi di Gavi wine by Dezzani, cured ham and an assortment of Zappala cheeses.

On the first day of the Cheese & Wine festival  shoppers will also be able to enjoy live acoustic music by Keith Anthony from Fellowfish who will be performing from 10:30am to 1:30pm and Melanie & Danny performing at 4pm to 7pm. Events will follow through the weekend with kids events outside Arkadia on Saturday and a puppet show will be presented at Arkadia's Department store on Sunday at 3pm. Folklore enthusiasts can also enjoy a performance by Tal-Fuklar Group which will be held on Sunday at 10:30am at McCafe.

Arkadia invites the general public to come and enjoy a fun weekend with the best of food, fashion and fun. Arkadia augurs a successful Cheese & Wine Festival where customers indulge in good wine and cheese while supporting Puttinu Cares.
